Muslim Cabbies-- Unsung Heroes...

Simple cabbies, simple Muslims, but their actions speak for themselves. Interestingly, while every negative Muslim story, is replete with references to Islam or Muslims, the stories of these cabbies doesn't mention it (except a passing reference in one). I am not asking that all positive news pieces about Muslims scream religious affiliations... all I am asking for is CONSISTENCY!

In any case, alhamdulilah, the recent story of a Muslim cab-driver returning very valuable belongings to the owners, is not the first one, and wont be the last one. But, it is a testament to the honesty of these brothers, a trait taught by our great religion of Islam. The following are only a few that I could find within a minute of searching, all Muslims, and of course hardly any mention of that fact in the story:

If any of these people had kept their "findings", they would have turned their lives around quickly, but instead honest earnings, and the trust of their patrons, was more important to them than the quick "haram" buck! We ALL could taken lessons from these stories... how honest are WE at work? How many times have we been less than honest outside work? And so on... May Allah reward these brothers, and help us be honest and truthful in our dealings with all as well.

Mashallah, faith coupled with action was what these cabbies exemplified. May Allah give them something better!

May Allah (swt) enable these cabbies to have more and more profitable fares, ameen. May Allah (swt) make more and more people take cabs on these cabbies routes, ameen!

Salaam. I read this story earlier today, and showed it to wife. I was telling her if the story had been cabbie keeping the diamonds, and then getting caught, the story would have mentioned his religion of Islam. But since its positive story, how can they potray anything positive to muslims God forbid

Hassan, the story would have read:
"Muslim terrorist and anti-semite tries to steal diamonds from poor Jewish man"

May Allah grant them something better in the akhirah. ameen

ameen to the duas.

what a fine example they are.
may Allah increase their rizq and increase them in taqwa, and us.

how contrary this is to the sterotypical immage of the immigrant cabbie: rude, ill-mannered, cruel.. as you see portrayed in many a hollywood film.

if muslims are looked down upon in America, and cabbies are looked down upon too.. the muslim cabbie surely is the absolute bottom of the food chain in american society.

so ironic then, that Americans would do well to emulate the qualities these looked-down upon muslims have shown.

sadly, we MUSLIMS ourselves would do well to emulate these qualities, as these are indeed rare amongst us and Allah knows best.

(oh and please: nobody accuse me of doing 'mass takfir' upon the ummah, okay, hopefully that sort of accusaion is history.

Yes, of course they decent people, like many Muslims, and also many people who don't happen to be Muslim.

Are you seriously suggesting that atheist/Christian/Jewssh/Sikh etc cabbies wouldn't have behaved in such an honest way?

What a low opinion you seem to have of your fellow humans!

And where did I suggest this or even insinuate this?

That is not what being said.

If a person had done something wrong/ of criminal nature, and he happened to be a Muslim, then his religion would have surely been mentioned in the news..."a MUSLIM so-and-so committed such and such crime..."

However, now that these cabbie heroes are muslims, none of the news channels mentioned anything about their faith.

It seems like when a Muslim does something wrong, it is his faith that goes to trial, but when a Muslim does something good, it is merely mentioned as a 'human being' doing something good.

Clear enough?!
